Trusting the Word of Christ to help you walk with Christ and become like Christ.

Truth thattransforms.

Marriage falling apart. Kids rebelling. Depression settling in like fog and indwelling sin you just can't seem to defeat. Life has a way of serving up challenges that leave us scrambling for answers. At YCBC we don't offer quick fixes or shallow optimism, we offer something better: the sufficiency, authority and wisdom of God's Word applied to your actual struggles.

What is biblical counseling?

Biblical counseling is personal ministry of God's Word. A trained counselor helps you understand what you're facing and respond to it through Scripture, with Christ at the center.

What it is

Personal ministry of God's Word: honest conversation, prayer, and practical homework, shaped by Scripture rather than psychological techniques.

What it isn't

Licensed therapy. We don't provide psychotherapy or mental health diagnosis, and sessions aren't billed to insurance.

Who it's for

Christians from any church, and anyone willing to engage with Scripture's wisdom for their struggles.

Where it leads

Transformation, not simply relief: a changed heart and a life ordered under Christ's lordship.

The purpose in a man's heart is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out.

Proverbs 20:5

Our philosophy

Foundation

Scripture informs our understanding.

  • God's Word speaks with authority and sufficiency to all of life's challenges.
  • We use biblical categories (the heart, sin, suffering, and grace) to understand your struggles.
  • Scripture interprets everything, including our own experiences.

Framework

Scripture guides our methodology.

  • We address root issues at the level of the heart, not just surface behaviors.
  • We counsel struggles rooted in sin and struggles rooted in suffering differently.
  • Change happens through the ordinary means of grace: God's Word, prayer, and community.
